Appalachian Regional Commission ARISE Feasibility Study

By leveraging regional strengths with national priorities, Appalachian counties within the OH, PA and WV tri-state, under the Keystone Space Collaborative’s direction, can become a hub for commercial space innovation and economic advancement. Key opportunities include securing an ARC ARISE grant which would enable the development of a comprehensive regional space economic strategy and facilitate programming aimed at attracting space talent and ventures to the region.

2023 Keystone Space Ecosystem and Industry Report

May, 2023

Since the Keystone Space Collaborative’s inception in 2021, the commercial space industry in the OH, PA and WV region experienced robust growth. The tri-state collective attracted $1.8 billion in federal spending and NASA grants, increased the number of space-relevant startups, experienced a general uptick in science and engineering degree conferrals, and more. Research indicates the Keystone Space Collaborative and its ability to create partnerships with key government and private sector stakeholders will be valuable as the area works to capitalize on future opportunities.
